Purifying &

Skin Circulating

This is another tool my facialist, Jessica at Brigette Beaute, uses on me that I *had* to get at home!

This is probably one of the coolest “science-y” machines I have too — it reminds me of one of those electrostatic glass balls from science class that shoots electricity where your fingers touch the outside of the glass.

If you read my "Light Therapy" article, you might be thinking, how many different acne zappers does this girl need? The blue light is more for long term results and preventing acne (results visible in as little as one week), whereas a high frequency tool is more effective at addressing immediate flare ups (results visible in as little as one day).

High frequency treatments kill bacteria and reduce inflammation, hence the acne-fighting benefits. BUT, High-frequency treatments ALSO increase circulation to stimulate collagen, making the treatment an effective anti-aging and glow-boosting tool, too.

The treatment is performed with an electrode, which looks like a long, hollow glass wand. They are typically made of tempered glass and filled with either 1) argon gas which produces a subtle violet colored glow, or 2) neon gas which produces an orange glow. Traditionally, the argon gas (violet color) electrodes are used to treat acne prone skin, while the neon gas (orange color) electrodes are generally better in the treatment of aging skin. The electrodes also come in a variety of different shapes and sizes to suit your goals for the treatment and size of treatment area.

A gentle alternating electrical current is generated by the high frequency machine which then passes through the attached glass electrode upon contact with the skin. This contact ignites the inert gas within the electrode which produces unstable oxygen that instantly converts into purifying ozone.

Ozone is activated oxygen which we know protects the Earth by attaching to pollutants and purifying the air we breathe. It has the ability to destroy pathogens, like bacteria, viruses, and fungi where then only pure oxygen is left behind as the byproduct. Needless to say, ozone is a potent and powerful detoxifier  it has the capacity to carry plentiful amounts of oxygen into the cells of the body, pushing out toxic accumulations and infections. Essentially, a high frequency tool is creating ozone that’s infused directly into your skin when the electrical current is mixed with the air outside the electrode.

Traditionally, the argon gas electrodes are used to treat acne prone skin which give off a violet hue.

The glow is really apparent when the lights are off, I wanted to show you guys how cool it looks!

For acneic skin, high frequency promotes a natural cleansing, antibacterial, and healing action that helps treat existing acne. It has a drying and germicidal effect so it helps calm down acne faster and prevents it from spreading over the face. Those with cystic acne will benefit greatly from the deep penetrating germicidal action of high frequency. The enriched, or activated, oxygen molecules produced by high frequency machines have proven to be effective in helping to heal skin lesions, wounds, cuts, and cold sores.

The neon gas electrodes are generally better in the treatment of aging skin which give off an orange colored hue.

I have a kit that includes both types of gas electrodes for alternating between aging and acne treatment.

For aging skin, high frequency causes an immediate circulation rush to the skin by promoting a safe and natural contraction of the underlying blood vessels where the electrode is applied. This dilation of the underlying vessels results in an increase in blood circulation. When your body increases circulation, it flushes out toxins from your skin, brings more oxygen & nutrients to your cells, and helps your skin produce collagen.

High Frequency Device

I primarily use my machine at home for treating active blemishes. I ‘spark’ the acne by tapping the tip of the electrode on the breakout a few times (maybe 4-6), and then move over the area in a circular motion. Most people who use this device notice a significant decrease in the size of their blemish by the next day, if not sooner. For me, it turns what would normally be a week long blemish into a 2 day ordeal.

I'll admit, I was so scared the first time I used this, I thought it was going to shock me since you can see all the electricity in the glass wand but it feels the same as when you accidentally touch something staticky. This machine is SUCH a life saver for me before an event, dinner, or just life when a blemish comes up and you need to get rid of it fast! If you've ever had a meltdown about getting a pimple before something special, you need this in your life!
