For Inner & Outer Beauty
I’m writing about this topic for 2 reasons —1) I’ve realized that most people don’t routinely take vitamins and 2) Those that know they “should”, often times don’t know what to take or the reason behind it.
I grew up religiously taking vitamins before bed every night at a very young age. I thought it was law and just as necessary as brushing your teeth, which I see now was largely influenced by the fact that my father is a doctor. At sleepovers with friends, I was (and still am) always so shocked when I see that other people don’t take any vitamins before bed. It is so alien to me! I have actually turned down sleeping over at friends houses in the past if I was out somewhere late because I “had to” go home for my vitamins — I know, I’m crazy. But you don’t have to be as devout as me, I swear!
In high school, we had to write a 15 page term paper on something we were passionate about — I chose vitamins. Again, I know I’m crazy. At the time, I remember having in depth conversations with my dad about this topic. The conversations were mainly centered around this point:
Fruits and vegetables grown decades ago were much richer in vitamins and minerals than the ones we eat today. The reason for this is soil depletion, meaning due to years and years of growing crops on the same soil we are depleting the amount of nutrients present in that soil. It is a scientific fact that there is declining nutritional content in the food we grow for each successive generation. The key to healthy produce is healthy soil, and if we are running that soil thin of its nutrients, then we cannot expect our food to maintain its same level of nutrition. I remember reading one study that said someone would have to eat 8 oranges today to get the same amount of Vitamin A as our grandparents would have gotten from just 1 orange. SCARY!
Which brings me to my point about multi-vitamins. A multi-vitamin basically serves as insurance, a safety net to fill in any and all of the areas you are lacking in from your diet alone. As you now know from my speech on soil, even if you’re eating fruits and veggies all day long, you are most likely still lacking in the nutrients your body needs (and lets be real, no one is eating fruits and veggies all day, every day... not even me).
I’VE LISTED SOME OF MY FAVORITE MULTI-VITAMINS TO TAKE
I have taken and tested each one of these at some point in my life and rotate between them. The common factor I look for when choosing a vitamin is that the product is grown in rich organic non-GMO soil with enough sun, air, water and time for it to be its best, rather than grown from a synthetically made formula in a lab. This is key to making sure you're paying for a power-packed nutritious food supplement.
I also leave a different bottle of vitamins at all the different places I routinely sleep just to be safe that I’m never without them!
In this list, you’ll see a lot of adult gummy vitamins because I went through a phase where I couldn’t swallow any more hard pills without gagging (TMI, sorry) and gummies are still my preference at the moment!

I’m sure you are convinced by now why you should be taking a multi-vitamin, but I tend to be somewhat of a supplement queen and don’t stop there. I’ve provided you with the rest of the vitamins, powders, and potions I value as part of my daily routine as well. A multi-vitamin is necessary, whereas these are great add-ons.
The nutrients we feed ourselves affect our bodies and impact our health, beauty, and happiness more than anything else I know, which is why supplemental choices are so powerful. I hope my recommendations can help make these sometimes difficult choices less confusing for you so you can start reaping all the benefits a full spectrum of vitamins has to offer. All of these supplements have one thing in common — they nourish the skin on the inside so it glows on the outside! You do NOT need to take all of these, in fact, doing so would be ridiculously overboard because there is overlap between a lot of these. These are, however, all supplements I’ve taken in the past or that I am currently taking. I'll rotate between them as they run out or as I get bored of them, but they are all great options and have landed a spot in my cabinet for a reason.
